2010 Report: Six of twenty-six

Four years ago when I started the Cycle for Campers
fundraiser I was asked why I was doing it. Was I doing it for the exercise? No.
Was I doing it for the scenery? No. Was I doing it to see how much money could
be raised and fill CSSM Atlantic camps? No, not really. I do it for the
campers, like the 26 this year, who needed help in order to attend  camp; praying that they would respond to the
teaching and living-out of God’s Word. The confirmation of that goal is when I
hear of CFC sponsored campers making a spiritual decision at camp like the six
this year who camp to know Christ as their Saviour.

Thank you to everyone who gave to make up the $2,720 that
was raised this year and to everyone who prayed for us as we cycled. I would
appreciate your prayers as I plan for the 5th Annual Cycle for
Campers. This year I would like to go farther each day and ride on more
Saturdays so that others can join in. I am having our new logo embroidered on
one of my jackets and hope to be able to get some promotional products for the
cycling season.

Newfoundland storm

I was looking at the pic from the the Avalon in NL this am. WOW. We need to be in prayer forthe folk there. I saw many roads that I have cycled washed out or cut off. Many times that road is the only access to that area or around the coast.

Day 4

Hi, Sorry I have not had a chance to post any pics or details of our days. The evenings have been just as busy. Tonight Erica needed my laptop to do a video project for school that our PC would not do.

Tomorrow, Neil & I are going to drive to St. Martins and do some cycling without a chase vehicle. maybe a loop or maybe down a road and back. We will see in the morning. It would be nice to ride with the wind to our back for a bit.

We had a great reception at Valley Christian Accademy today as well as the other places we stopped to visit.

Course adjustments

I had a good ride yesterday. My odometer broke so after I got home I used MapMyRide.com to see how far I went, 45.5 KM in 100 minutes. After talking to Neil I have decided that to try a mile century in 1 day at this time might be a bit ambitious. So I have adjusted the ride. All my maps are available on MapMyRide.com if I have not posted them here.

God Provides donation & jersey

I saw God provide yesterday for CFC. I speak at Valley Christian Accademy in Rothesday once a month, so I was there yesterday as usual. Well they had a dress down day and raised $202.95 for CFC.

Then I went to Valu Village looking for some items and I found a cycling jersey my size for $13. After cycling for 3 years with just shirts I wore cycling God provides 2 cycling jerseys for me in 2 days.

Getting ready

I have a new cycling shirt. I took my bike in today to be serviced and now I have an Outdoor Elements shirt. I will wear it around the province with...not pride as I don't want to fall, with a smile.

Training

Hi,

I tried my new clipless shoes & pedals last night. They are an early birthday present. Wow, what a difference. I felt llike me legs had a much better workout than any other time on  my trainer. It has turned cold here again so I don't think I will be out for a few days.

Winter again

A week agao today I saw a number of cyclists out on the road. It felt like spring, late spring. Now we are back to winter weather or at least early spring. With lowsw of minus 12C I don't think anyone will be out cycling today.

In spite of the weather it is time to begin training and putting the deatils on CFC. I ihad my last hockey game last night so now I need to be on my trainer more often.

We are looking to cycle in southern NB this year and maybe PEI. I want to do a century, which is 100 miles (160 KM) in one day. that loop will begin and end at my house. Day 1 will be on the holiday Monday May 24th. So if you are free, come along.

2010 NB Dates

We are getting set for CFC 2010. The last week  in May looks like the time for 2010 in NB. Neil & I would like to cycle in south western, NB some. I would also like to try a "century", 100 miles or 160 KM in one day. It is just about that if you go from my place in Sussex Corner to St. Martins to Rothesay and home.

It looks like Victoria Day Monday will be the start, Prince William to St. Stephen. I am looking for more cyclists to join us!!!

CFC 2010

Well, its time to be thinkning about CFC 2010. Where am I going to go ? How am I going to find a sponsor to underwrite the cost of the fundraiser. How can we promote the camps more? If you have any ideas, please share.
